Revive Me

Several times in verse 149-160 of Psalm 119, the Psalmist says, "Revive Me, O Lord". He appeals to God's ordinances, His word, and his lovingkindness. That word struck me today: REVIVE.

It means to restore to life or consciousness.
It means to give strength or energy.

My heart and life needed that word today.
I needed that definition today.
I needed that simple prayer today.

Often I try to make my prayers be full of words, not because I think God only hears wordy prayers, but because I am often trying to find the right words for what my heart desires to say in the first place.

From time to time, though, I come across as simple phrase that so resonates with the state of my heart in that moment that it becomes and obvious prayer. Today, my heart can only pray "Revive me, O Lord."

Today my heart and mind need restoration of life.
Today my heart needs strength; my mind and body need strength. My body and heart need energy.

Today I pray the same simple phrase over and over again, and it never grows old or stale. Today I pray a simple phrase over and over again because Jesus said to ASK until you are ANSWERED, SEEK until you FIND, KNOCK until the door is OPENED.

Today I ask for and seek out a restored life and consciousness. I will knock at the door of God's strength and energy until that door is opened.
