I was catching up on my list of blogs, and my friend, Malisa shared this website and challenge today.
I think it is a great way to look into a new year. It is a great way to make movements toward truly seeing things grow in the right way within and around us.
The one word website describes the challenge this way:
“One word can change everything. Forget New Year’s Resolutions. Scrap the long list of goals that you won’t remember three weeks from now anyway. Choose just one word. One word that sums up who you want to be or how you want to live or what you want to achieve by the end of 2012. One word that you can focus on every day, all year long. It will take hard work, and will require intentionality and commitment. But if you let it, your word will shape you and your year. It will guide your decisions and help you grow.”
My word for this year will be: RESTORATION
What would your word be for this year?

I picked two words for 2012, and it’s really the first time I’ve done so. Mercy and Flexibility. Both were words that seemed to arrive over and over in December so I decided they were things God wants me to better understand and focus on this year. Of course, I’m annoying and set like 8 million goals for myself too, but that’s just because I’m a control freak. (Note: flexibility doesn’t really go with control so this should be an interesting year…)
oh yes, I read your post about all of this. I have also never chosen a word (or two). I am excited to find ways to keep my word in front of me for an entire year.
Pursuit –
I’m very excited about this year!!!! It will be spent pursuing Jesus, pursuing knowledge of him and of what pleases him, pursuing daily obedience and listening to him in every area of my life. It’s gonna be hard – but a fun adventure too. It’s already started!
That is exciting! I’m excited to watch that happen for you this year.
You are the first man I’ve seen with a One Word 365 post! I love it! I hope to see many more. My word is also Restore. It has just really stuck out for me. I need restoration in several areas of my life and I’m willing to find out what else God thinks I need restoring!
thank you for stopping by to say that. I appreciate it. I’d love to hear your reflections on restoration this year.
“Restoration” is going to lead you on an incredible journey this year…
My word is “choose”. Because while there may be a LOT I’m lacking, I always have a choice. And I want to stay mindful of choosing well…
I love that word. It strikes to the word I put to my students this year; INTENTIONAL.
We grow tired of just letting life happen to us at some point have to begin making intentional choices.
Thank you for stopping by Alece. I appreciate it a lot.
